Recently Coulson Aviation was asked to provide fire suppression support on their “own turf” of British Columbia. To be more specific, they were contracted by B.C. authorities to help ground firefighters in the Kamloops area. Our team at Coulson Aviation is thrilled to be helping our local brothers and sisters fight off these devastating wildfires.

To make this happen we had to dispatch one of our Sikorsky S-61 firefighting helicopters currently based in Southern California. The contract in B.C. is set for a 5 day period with an option for longer and/or the procurement of addition aerial firefighting aircraft and crews.

Below is a collection of local media stories with more information…

An aircraft with a Vancouver Island connection has now joined the firefight near Kamloops.

For the first time in six years, the provincial forest service has employed a Coulson Aviation Aircraft that’s based out of Port Alberni.

The Coulson Group in Port Alberni has been making a name for itself worldwide with the largest fleet of initial attack planes and helicopters for fighting fires.

It has firefighting contracts in the U.S., Australia and Chile and just this week it has landed a contract again on its home turf.
